These run our Gentech filter and support the widest range of allowed apps (Gmail, Zoom, banking apps, WhatsApp, etc.). They are pre-filtered, have no browser, and are managed by an MDM (mobile device management system). RCS messaging features are blocked because RCS can enable Gemini AI inside Google Messages.
WhatsApp on Samsung and Pixel: Lighter filtering than the MegaLife — channels, statuses, and AI features are blocked, but direct messaging with images/videos works normally.
Approximate manufacturer support windows:
- Galaxy S22 — released Feb 2022, ~5 years of security updates (support to early 2027)
- Galaxy A15 — released Dec 2023, ~5 years of security updates
We typically block firmware updates to keep things stable on our system. If apps eventually stop working because the firmware is too outdated, send the phone to us and we'll update the system. You normally don't need to update on your own.
Note on koshering newer Galaxy models: Some newer Samsung models — particularly the A15 — need to be mailed to us to be koshered, regardless of what Android version they're currently running. This is because the device has to be brought up to date first. The product description on our website notes which models require this; please read carefully before ordering.
